I would certainly like to see what they have to say. We were trying a virtual version of the lesson study. I have the same problem you have since we are in a rural area. Sometimes one teacher is the entire science department.

David and gang: Our teachers for 2007-2008 are meeting tomorrow (Saturday) so I think I will have them brainstorm how we might be able to do a lesson study. They have an answer!! We have three from the Applied Learning Academy so, at least, they can try it live time.

Thanks, Molly

Molly, I tried to do the lesson study via the internet. We used google documents to allow the groups of teachers to coedit the lesson they were producing. The idea was for them to then try it and discuss what happened via webct Didn't really work very well. They produced the lesson but didn't really get into any major discussion. I think I needed a tool that combined the ability to coedit a document and also have the discussion go along with it in the same place. Maybe there is such a thing. Maybe we were just too inexperienced.

David: Thank you for establishing this blog. This is my FIRST blog so I am make some mistakes.

I have not tried a lesson study with the TQ because we get one teacher per building most of the time. I would like to know how others in this situation work it.

Still not sure if I've quite figured out WordPress. It will probably get easier very quickly. But, in the spirit of giving it a try, I'm replynig to this post to see where it ends up.

If we want to use this to discuss upcoming TQ grant applications, we should identify what changes are going to be necessary from last years call for proposals. Any of you who stayed for Friday's meeting can add important information for those of us who had to leave early (for other engagements).
Molly and I have a couple of TCU connections who are staying and will pass information on to us, but they might not catch all the subtleties. If any "big changes" or important issues arise, please pass them on.
Later, I think we can definitely go further on the discussion we were having with Bruce and Peggy about science courses being listed as EDUC, BIOL (etc.), or Natural Sciences.
How's that for a first post.
